New Generation, High-Performance Steel Products for Automotive Industry Produced By National Molten Salt-Boron Diffusion Technology Project

The project, carried out by our Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Güldem Kartal Şireli in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, aimed to improve the characteristics of steel parts used in the automotive sector. To achieve this, an electrochemical-based boronizing method (KRTD-Bor: Cathodic-Reduction Thermal-Diffusion based Boronizing method) developed by the project team was utilized.

“Sustainable Recovery of Rare Earth Elements (Nd, Dy,Pr) from spent NdFeB magnets (RECMAG)-International Bilateral Collaboration CORNET Project

Explanation Part In this completed CORNET project, which has been supported by international academy, coordinator organization and SME, within the scope of “WasteRaw Material Conversion” in the field of critical and key technologies, it was aimed to recover critical rare earth elements (Nd, Dy, Pr, which has high economic importance and supply difficulty) from NdFeB waste magnets, ensuring sustainability (Techno-Economic Obligation) and process design.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Turul ALPAS of the University of Windsor's Mechanical, Automotive, and Materials Engineering Department will be a visiting researcher in our Faculty, conducting research in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and lecturing at the Graduate School of Education.
