Significant Success from Our Design Project Students

Within the scope of Design Project I and II completed in the academic year 2022-23, graduation work of students from our Faculty of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, has been published in the prestigious "Canadian Metallurgical Quarterly" journal, classified under the Q2 category.

The 3rd International Materials Technology and Metallurgy Conference at ITU

As part of the 250th Anniversary Events of Istanbul Technical University, the third International Materials Technologies and Metallurgy Conference (MTM 2023) was held at ITU Ayazağa from October 11-13, 2023, with support from TMMOB Chamber of Metallurgical and Materials Engineers Training Center (METEM).

Future of Food Symposium was held as part of ITU 250th anniversary and 16th of October World Food Day.

Project Support to Our Faculty Member Asist. Prof. Kübra Onbaşlı within the Scope of TUBITAK 1001 and TUSEB Group B Call

The project titled "Hybrid Nanoparticle-Based Combined Phototherapy in the Treatment of Burn-Related Bacterial Infection," directed by Asist. Prof. Kübra Onbaşlı, has been funded from TÜBİTAK under the "TÜBİTAK 1001 Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program." In addition, the TUSEB Group B Call grants funding for the research project titled "Development of Theranostic SPIONs with Targeted Combination Therapy Potential for Pancreatic Cancer Treatment," which is also being directed by Dr. Onbaslı.

Project Support to Our Faculty Member Assoc. Prof M. Şeref Sönmez within the Scope of TÜBİTAK-IRaSME Call

Our Faculty Member, Assoc. Prof. M. Şeref Sönmez, has been granted from the IRaSME (International Research Activities by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) initiative which is a component of the “TÜBİTAK 1071 - Support Program for Facilitating Access to International Research Funds and Promoting International R&D Collaboration” to enhance research and development as well as foster innovation

TUBITAK 1001 Project Support to Our Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Esra ÇAPANOĞLU GÜVEN

The project, “Recovery of Polyphenols From Vegetable Food Wastes in Dried Cross-Linked Alginate Matrix Using Different Methods: Encapsulation, Characterization and In-Vitro Bioavailability” led by Prof. Dr. Esra ÇAPANOĞLU GÜVEN, a faculty member of our Faculty's Food Engineering Department, was qualified by TUBITAK 1001 - The Scientific and Technological Research Projects Funding Program.

Cooperation visit from University of Food Technologies Plovdiv to our Rectorate

Vice-Rectors and faculty members from the University of Food Technologies Plovdiv visited our Rectorate to discuss possible inter-university and university-industry collaborations.

New Generation, High-Performance Steel Products for Automotive Industry Produced By National Molten Salt-Boron Diffusion Technology Project

The project, carried out by our Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Güldem Kartal Şireli in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, aimed to improve the characteristics of steel parts used in the automotive sector. To achieve this, an electrochemical-based boronizing method (KRTD-Bor: Cathodic-Reduction Thermal-Diffusion based Boronizing method) developed by the project team was utilized.

The article submission has been started for the "ITU Metallurgy and Materials Engineering Journal", which is dedicated to publishing high-quality research in materials science and engineering.

Patent on development of gas permeability thermoresponsive packaging film for fresh produce has received a gold medal at the ISIF'23 8th Istanbul International Invention Fair.

Priority Field Research Project (YAP) Support to Our Faculty Members

Our faculty members were entitled to receive support for their following Priority Field Research Projects (YAP) within the scope of our University's 2023 Scientific Research Projects.

TUBITAK award to Prof. Dr. Neşe Şahin Yeşilçubuk and her team

The project, which was applied as the coordinator within the scope of the call "HORIZON-MISS-2022-SOIL-01-02: Improving food systems sustainability and soil health with food processing residues" was deemed worthy of the TÜBİTAK Above Threshold Award.

2023 ITU Academic Performance Awards Were Given

Within the scope of the "ITU Academic Performance Awards", 7 and 9 faculty members from our Faculty were awarded, respectively, in two different categories, titled "Academic Performance and Publication Awards".
