ITU Faculty of Chemical Metallurgical Engineering

To be the 6th faculty established in the history of ITU, our faculty aims to make scientific and applied research in the fields of chemistry, metallurgy, food and bioengineering fields by pursuing developments in the tomorrow’s key technologies and interdisciplinary engineering opportunities to become a center of advanced solutions in national and international levels.

Our Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Food Engineering undergraduate programs are accredited by ABET (EAC).

The closing meeting of the TÜBİTAK-Malta Science and Technology Council (MCST) Bilateral Cooperation Project, conducted under the leadership of our Food Engineering Department Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Tacer Caba, was held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 10:00 in classroom D202 of our Faculty.

2nd National Copper Summit was held in Istanbul

The 2nd National Copper Summit, held in Istanbul on February 13, 2026, brought together industry representatives to discuss the future of the copper sector with a focus on exports, green transformation, and sustainability.

The computer laboratory, library, reading and study area of our faculty was put into service with its new face

The computer laboratory, library, reading and study area of our faculty were completely renovated within the scope of a detailed project. The opening ceremony of the area, which was put into the service of our students under the name of "Yıldız Eren Computer Laboratory and Study Area", took place on December 6, 2022.

TÜBİTAK POLAR-1001 Project Support to Our Faculty Member

The project titled "Determination of the Stability of Active Substance-Loaded Nanofibers at Extremely Low Temperatures and High Pressures Encountered in Space Conditions and Obtaining Exosomes from Arctic Fish," led by Prof. Dr. Filiz Altay, a faculty member of ITU Food Engineering Department, was awarded funding for the POLAR-1001 2026 period. Research Assistants Rukiye Yiğit and Elif Alakaş are also part of the project team as scholarship recipients.
