Supported by TÜBİTAK 2247-A National Lead Researchers Program, Associate Professor Dr. Reza Nofar demonstrates that bio-based and biodegradable plastics offer a critical alternative in the pursuit of environmentally friendly and sustainable materials.

Developed as a response to the environmental impacts of petroleum-based plastics, bioplastics are produced from renewable resources such as corn starch, cellulose, and vegetable oils, and are notable for their biodegradable properties. Dr. Nofar’s research shows that these materials possess performance capabilities that can replace conventional plastics in a wide range of engineering applications, from automotive to packaging.
