To be the 6th faculty established in the history of ITU, our faculty aims to make scientific and applied research in the fields of chemistry, metallurgy, food and bioengineering fields by pursuing developments in the tomorrow’s key technologies and interdisciplinary engineering opportunities to become a center of advanced solutions in national and international levels.

Our Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Food Engineering undergraduate programs are accredited by ABET (EAC).

Our Graduate Prof. Dr. Ali Erdemir was elected to the European Academy of Sciences

Prof. Dr. Ali Erdemir, graduated from our faculty in 1977, was officially accepted as a Foreign Researcher to the European Academy of Sciences. He was also awarded the 2024 Tribology Gold Medal from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.




Prof. Dr. Ali Erdemir was officially elected into the European Academy of Sciences as a Foreign Researcher at a ceremony held at the Lisbon Academy of Sciences. Our graduate Prof. Dr. Erdemir has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Tribology Gold Medal from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, based in the United Kingdom. A world-renowned expert in the field of tribology, Prof. Dr. Erdemir has spent over 35 years in an academic career focused on advancing the design, development of new materials, coatings, lubricants aimed at improving the energy efficiency, durability and environmental impact of mechanical systems.
