ITU Faculty of Chemical Metallurgical Engineering

To be the 6th faculty established in the history of ITU, our faculty aims to make scientific and applied research in the fields of chemistry, metallurgy, food and bioengineering fields by pursuing developments in the tomorrow’s key technologies and interdisciplinary engineering opportunities to become a center of advanced solutions in national and international levels.

Our Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Food Engineering undergraduate programs are accredited by ABET (EAC).

Şeref Sönmez, has been granted from the IRaSME (International Research Activities by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) initiative which is a component of the “TÜBİTAK 1071 - Support Program for Facilitating Access to International Research Funds and Promoting International R&D Collaboration” to enhance research and development as well as foster innovation

Our Faculty Member, Assoc. Prof. M. Şeref Sönmez, has been granted from the IRaSME (International Research Activities by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) initiative which is a component of the “TÜBİTAK 1071 - Support Program for Facilitating Access to International Research Funds and Promoting International R&D Collaboration” to enhance research and development as well as foster innovation.

The academic administrators for the project entitled "Reactive particle systems based on core-shell nanoparticles for low temperature metal-ceramic integration - ReCoShe" are the Istanbul Technical University Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department from Türkiye and the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS (FhI ENAS) from Germany.

Within the concept of this project, directed by M. Şeref Sönmez and investigated by Prof. Sebahattin Gürmen, Nanografi Nano Teknoloji A.Ş. and Sentes-Bir Metalurji Kimya Enerji Uretim ve Geri Donusum Teknolojileri San. Tic. A.S. are two Turkish SME collaborators. Seidel Werkzeugbau GmbH, MKM Engineering GmbH, and ITW e. V. Chemnitz are SME partners on the German side of the initiative.
