Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), one of China's leading universities in engineering and high technologies, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) together with the agreement establishing the International Joint Laboratory for Carbon Neutrality in Systems Engineering.
The joint laboratory, to be operated through the collaboration between ITU-SENTEK and the BIT Research Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, will conduct interdisciplinary research on clean energy and carbon emission technologies, low-carbon energy systems, carbon management and carbon markets, energy transition and storage technologies, as well as advanced functional materials. The collaboration will also foster joint research projects, strengthen researcher and student mobility, and promote the production of high-impact scientific outcomes.
Following the signing ceremony, the BIT delegation visited the ITU-SENTEK laboratories to gain first-hand insight into the laboratory infrastructure and ongoing research activities. The delegation included Mr. Yang Fan, Vice President of Beijing Institute of Technology; Prof. Zhang Tianyuzi, Associate Dean of the Research Institute for Science and Technology; Dr. Sun Ziwen, Associate Director of the Office of International Affairs; and Mr. Lu Sheng, Vice Chairman of Bitalltech.
This collaboration is expected to strengthen the long-term research partnership between the two leading technical universities, enhance international scientific cooperation, and contribute to high-impact research in the fields of carbon neutrality and sustainable energy technologies.
