The closing meeting of the SOLEATECH project (Design of an Integrated System with Artificial Intelligence Technology for Water, Soil and Energy Challenges in Olive Cultivation in Rural Mediterranean Regions), supported by the TÜBİTAK-Malta Science and Technology Council (MCST) Bilateral Cooperation Program and conducted in partnership with ITU, BAU, and WES LTD (Malta), was held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 10:00 in classroom D202 of our Faculty. Many faculty members and students from different faculties of ITU and BAU attended the meeting.
The project aimed to fill the scientific and applied gap in the field of Mediterranean olive cultivation by producing high-frequency and long-term environmental data sets, which are quite limited in this area. It also aimed to increase productivity by efficiently utilizing resources and to integrate the developed solution into existing artificial intelligence solutions accessible to farmers.
The event, which began with a speech by Prof. Dr. Esra Çapanoğlu Güven, Head of the Food Engineering Department at ITU, continued with presentations by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Tacer Caba and Dr. The meeting continued with Dilan Sarpkaya's presentations explaining the project. The meeting, which included project researchers Prof. Dr. Gül Tekin Temur, Dr. Fatih Kahraman, and Dr. Müge Kesici Baysoy answering questions from the audience and exchanging ideas, was very productive. We congratulate our faculty member and wish her continued success. |
