
Within the scope of the project, the VI National Arctic Scientific Research Expedition (TASE-VI expedition) is planned to be conducted at sea in the Barents Sea region during a 20-40 day period between June and September 2026. The project has a letter of support from the Turkish Space Agency.
This project aims to investigate the durability of next-generation biomaterials by using polar conditions as a natural laboratory similar to the space environment. The project has two main focuses:
1) Determining the stability of active ingredient-loaded nanofibers (containing antioxidants, vitamins, and bioactive components) under extremely low temperature and high pressure conditions in the Arctic sea,
2) Conducting characterization studies by isolating exosomes from Arctic fish.
The data obtained will provide critical information to increase the reliability of food, pharmaceutical, and biomedical products to be produced on-site with 3D printing and bioprinting technologies, especially in long-duration space missions. The project aims to contribute to Türkiye's scientific and strategic capacity by combining polar research with space biotechnology.
