The “Sustainable Consumption and Food Waste” training was given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Derya Kahveci Karıncaoğlu, Faculty Member of the Food Engineering Department, on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 10:00, in the Prof. Dr. Nahit Kumbasar Conference Hall of the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
In the training titled “Sustainable Consumption and Food Waste,” sustainable consumption was examined from a food perspective. The extent of food loss and waste in both the world and Turkey—where millions of people face hunger—was emphasized. Within the scope of the Sustainable Development Goals (12.3: Halving global food waste), current national strategies and the actions that can be taken at individual and institutional levels were discussed. Current projects and activities carried out at ITU to promote sustainable food consumption were also presented. |
